Simon J. Sacco, age 73,
passed away on November 21, 2025,
at the Wynn Hospital.
Simon was born in Rome on March
10, 1952, to the late Simon and
Louise Spina Sacco and graduated
from RFA. He worked as a hotel
manager locally at Vernon Downs
and at Harrah's in Chicago. He
proudly served his country in the
U.S. Air Force and was honorably
discharged in 1978.
Simon has always been a positive
and guiding light on our lives,
offering a joyful presence to all
of us. He enjoyed golfing and
watching football with his family,
friends, and his cat, Junior. He
helped friends and family alike
with home improvement projects and
construction, leaving a part of
himself in our hearts and homes.
Simon is survived by his
daughters, Ava (Agnieszka
Zabrocka) Zurita, and Raine
(Daniel) Sacco Visalli; his life
partner of the last 25 years,
Sharon Riolo Sanford; children,
Michelle (Karey) Emig, Shane
(Jennifer) Riolo, and Ashley
(Jason) Smith; his grandchildren,
Vincenzo, Benjamin, Garrett,
Arlen, Carissa, Kali, Kamren,
Noah, Lily, Novalee, and Akira;
his great grandchildren, Carter
and Marshall; several cousins
including a special cousin, Mike
Sanzone; many friends including
his good friends, Rene Riolo who
was like a brother to Simon, and
Jason Smith; and his "feline son,"
Junior. He was predeceased by his
brother, Louis Sacco, and
grandson, Jacob Davis.
Simon's funeral service will be
held on Friday at 1 PM, at the
Barry Funeral Home, 807 W.
Chestnut Street. Burial will be in
St. John's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at
the funeral home from 11 AM to 1
PM prior to the service.
